In 1945, Samuel Hunter Leggitt started the S. H. Leggitt Company in Marshall, Michigan. Initially a manufacturer of filters and regulators for the natural gas industry, it wasn't long before Sam recognized the potential for other markets: the RV and mobile home industries. Through the years, the S. H. Leggitt Company became a large distributor of LP gas products to these industries.

Today his son, Don Leggitt Sr., and grandson, Don Leggitt Jr., have shifted the focus from distribution to manufacturing and assembly of LP gas regulators, hose assemblies, custom brass fittings and plumbing components. Out of market demand came two technically based, customer-oriented specialized divisions Marshall Gas Controls and Marshall Brass. Together, they serve the RV, LP Gas, Outdoor Cooking, and Plumbing markets as leaders in their industries.
